Hyperfine excitation of OH+ by H

چکیده
The OH+ ions are widespread in the interstellar medium and play an important role in the interstellar chemistry as they act as precursors to the H2O molecule. Accurate determination of their abundance rely on their collisional rate coefficients with atomic hydrogen and electrons. In this paper, we derive OH+–H fine and hyperfine-resolved rate coefficients by extrapolating recent quantum wave packet calculations for the OH+ + H collisions, including inelastic and exchange processes. The extrapolation method used is based on the infinite order sudden approach. State-to-state rate coefficients between the first 22 fine levels and 43 hyperfine levels of OH+ were obtained for temperatures ranging from 10 to 1000 K. Fine structure-resolved rate coefficients present a strong propensity rule in favour of !j = !N transitions. The !j = !F propensity rule is observed for the hyperfine transitions. The new rate coefficients will help significantly in the interpretation of OH+ spectra from photon-dominated region (PDR), and enable the OH+ molecule to become a powerful astrophysical tool for studying the oxygen chemistry.

OH hyperfine ground state: From precision measurement to molecular qubits
We perform precision microwave spectroscopy—aided by Stark deceleration—to reveal the low-magneticfield behavior of OH in its 2 3/2 rovibronic ground state, identifying two field-insensitive hyperfine transitions suitable as qubits and determining a differential Landé g factor of 1.267 5 10−3 between opposite-parity components of the doublet. The data are successfully modeled with an effective ...
متن کاملThe Spin Temperature of Warm Interstellar H
Collisional excitation of the λ21cm hyperfine transition is not strong enough to thermalize it in warm neutral (" intercloud ") interstellar gas, which we show by simultaneously solving the equations of ionization and collisional equilibrium under typical conditions. Coupling of the λ21cm excitation temperature and local gas motions may be established by the Ly-α radiation field, but only if st...

Organic semiconductors offer a unique environment to probe the hyperfine coupling of electronic spins to a nuclear spin bath. We explore the interaction of spins in electron-hole pairs in the presence of inhomogeneous hyperfine fields by monitoring the modulation of the current through an organic light emitting diode under coherent spin-resonant excitation. At weak driving fields, only one of t...

The two resting forms of the active site of [NiFe] hydrogenase, Ni-A and Ni-B, have significantly different activation kinetics, but reveal nearly identical spectroscopic features which suggest the two states exhibit subtle structural differences. Previous studies have indicated that the states differ by the identity of the bridging ligand between Ni and Fe; proposals include OH(-), OOH(-), H2O...

The determination of hyperfine structure resolved excitation cross sections and rate coefficients due to H2 collisions is required to interpret astronomical spectra. In this paper, we present several theoretical approaches to compute these data. An almost exact recoupling approach and approximate sudden methods are presented. We apply these different approaches to the HCl-H2 collisional system ...
